Kawarthas Northumberland Butter Tart Taste‐Off

Find out how you can be a judge with the Butter Tart Taste-Off!

To celebrate all the great butter tarts and the continuing success of our Tour, we are hosting the annual Kawarthas Northumberland Butter Tart Taste‐Off on Saturday September 24th in the Morrow Building at the Peterborough Farmers’ Market. The Taste-Off is open to any of the participating bakeries, cafes, and businesses on our Butter Tart Tour. The winner of each of the Best Tart categories will win a spot to represent our region at Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival in Midland in June 2017.

From 9:30AM to 10:00AM many of our participating bakeries will be offering FREE Samples!

Panels of five judges for each of the first four categories will select winners from the following, with the People’s Choice being decided by your votes cast during the event!

  • 10:00AM – Best Overall Plain Butter Tart
  • 10:30AM – Best Locally Sourced Tart
  • 11:00AM – Best Alternative Tart
  • 11:30AM – Best Gluten Free Tart
  • 12:30PM – People’s Choice

The Locally Sourced Tart will include local ingredients or ingredients found with the Kawarthas. The Best Alternative Tart is where the tart makers can get creative!
